Speciality Cocktail Spotlight: Manhattan

At Flat Iron Grill, we take pride not only in our inspired food selection and vast whiskey collection, but also in our ability to serve refreshing and delicious specialty cocktails. We’re excited to share some of our favorite recipes with you, and we will be spotlighting a new one every week. Give it a try at home, or come in and let us show you how it’s done!

This week we’re showcasing the classic Manhattan.  The exact origin of the drink is unknown, but it was first served in Manhattan, New York (go figure) sometime in the latter 1800s.

Recipes for the Manhattan have changed over time, and some deviate from using the traditional choice of rye whiskey in favor of bourbon or Canadian whiskey.  Not us.  We make ours with Bulleit Rye Whiskey and it’s always stirred – never shaken.

Ingredients

2 oz Bulleit Rye Whiskey
1 oz Vya Sweet Vermouth
1 dash Orange Bitters
1 Cherry

Directions

Combine all the first three ingredients in an ice filled pint glass and stir.  Place the cherry in a chilled martini glass, and then strain the mixture into the glass.
