Specialty Cocktail Spotlight: Toronto
The Toronto is another classic cocktail. It gets its kick from combining whiskey with Italian amaro (in this case, Fernet). Amaro isn’t for the faint of heart — it has a distinctly bitter taste, which isn’t for everyone. That being said, its flavor is muted somewhat in this particular mix, making it a great way to introduce yourself to the unique flavor it offers.
2 oz. Bulleit Rye Whiskey
1 oz. Fernet
.75 oz. Simple Syrup
Dash of Orange Bitters
Burnt Orange Peel
Combine all ingredients except the orange peel in an ice filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into chilled martini glass. Add orange peel — and voila.
